This Mental Health First aid course is suitable for all adult members of the community and is particularly recommended for those working in the human services industry. Participants will gain skills in recognising common mental health problems, develop knowledge of possible causes and learn how to provide initial support to those in need.
You will learn how to assist an adult who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical, evidence-based action plan.
This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals. It is an education course, to learn how to give first aid to others, and is not a therapy or support group.
This is a blended course comprising four hours of face-to-face learning and an online component which takes approximately six hours to complete.
This course is run by PD Training Services and is accredited by Mental Health First Aid Australia.
