BSBSS00095 – Cross-Sector Infection Control Skill Set

This skill set has been introduced to help workplaces manage the risks associated with infection control, and specifically COVID-19. It is relevant for workers in all industries who require skills and knowledge to reduce the risk and transmission of infection while carrying out routine activities as part of their job role. Covers identifying infection hazards, assessing infection risks, using resources and equipment to prevent infection, using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), cleaning own work area, disposing of waste, following organisational procedures and responding to incidents. This skill set includes the unit BSBWHS332X Apply infection prevention and control procedures to own work activities.

This training is provided with Commonwealth and State government funding and eligible workers can access a fully funded place. A person can participate if they:

-are currently employed in Victoria

-have not previously completed this Skill Set or any other infection control skill set.

Completion of a workbook prior to attending the class. The Zoom class will involve practical activities in which you will need to demonstrate your handwashing technique, ability to safely take on/off disposable mask and cleaning of a floor and surface such as a desk/bench/counter top. You will need a portable device such as a laptop, tablet or smartphone set up in an area where your trainer will be able to watch you demonstrating these tasks. This should be in your workplace or a simulated workplace such as your home office or kitchen. You will need access to alcohol-based hand sanitiser, soap, a sink, gloves, paper towel, cleaning supplies such as disinfectant & cloths, a rubbish bin with liner, disposable mask, tissue and any other infection control equipment you need to use in your workplace.

You will be required to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy Assessment. Please see student handbook for more information on the LL&N Assessment.

You will then be contacted by the office in regards to completing the Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment.
