How do online courses work?
Online courses can be accessed over the Internet at any time of day or night. All courses consist of 12 lessons, released weekly on Thursday at 6pm AEST, live instructor support, interactive quizzes, assignments, tutorials and online discussion areas.

What are Instructor-led courses?
Expert instructors develop and lead every course, and you’ll be able to interact with them and with fellow students in lively online discussion areas.
What do I need to take an online course?

  • Internet access
  • Email
  • Google Chrome, FireFox, Safari or Internet Explorer web browser
  • The latest Adobe Flash and PDF plug-ins. Visit http://www.adobe.com/downloads and click Get Adobe Flash Player and Get Adobe Reader to download these free plug-ins

Can I take an online course using a Macintosh or iMac computer?

Most of the courses are Macintosh compatible, and if not, this information will be stated on the course Requirements tab when you view the course details.

How do I know if I can be successful in an online course?

Taking a course over the Internet requires the ability to:

  • Work independently
  • Devise your own schedule for ‘attending’ class and completing assignments
  • Have the self-discipline and self-motivation to work on a flexible schedule without falling behind
  • Accept greater responsibility for your success than students in traditional classroom settings

Do I need to come to campus?

No, the course is completely online.
Can I take my course from more than one computer?

Yes—from any computer and from anywhere on the planet with reliable Internet access; such as the
library, a coffee shop, a community centre, or your family or friends home.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes, once you have passed the class you can print the ‘Certificate of Completion’ before the classroom closes. The online completion letter can be found by logging into your classroom:

  • Click on the ‘Completion’ tab at the top of each web page in your course, or click on the link titled ‘Completion’ on the bottom of each web page in your course; and
  • Scroll to the bottom of the web page, and click on the link for the completion letter

After the class closes, the certificate can also be printed from My Classroom and choosing Previous Courses.

What happens if I’m called away during class?

Once a lesson is released, you have two full weeks to complete each reading, assignment, and quiz for the lesson. You even have two weeks to complete the final exam starting the day it’s released.

When do courses start?

Courses are based in the US which means that due to the time difference the course start date is one day later than indicated on the website. For example, a session starting on April 12 will begin on the evening of April 13 in Australia.

What happens if I have a question during class?

Each of your lessons is accompanied by an interactive discussion area. When you need help with a lesson, all you do is post your question or inquiry in the appropriate course discussion area, where the instructor, their teaching assistant, or one of your fellow students will respond.

Can I take more than one course at a time?

Yes, if you have the time.  Most courses require about 4 hours studying per week.

Do I need a username and password?

Yes, you will create your own username and password when you request a registration form for your class.

What happens if I go on holidays for a week or get behind?
No problem. You can request a ten-day extension if you fall behind (but no more than one extension per course). You will be given instructions on how to request an extension in the orientation.
